The Old Bloke & The Three Young Blondes
Wine
d'Arenberg The Old Bloke & The Three Young Blondes is blended from the estate's oldest Shiraz with small amounts of Roussanne, Viognier and Marsanne – the three white Rhône variety blondes.
Small batches of Shiraz are gently crushed and transferred to open fermenters where they co-ferment with the white grape skins. Foot treading is undertaken two thirds of the way through fermentation.
The wine is basket pressed to new and seasoned French and American oak to complete fermentation. It ages on lees for 20 months. There is no racking until final blending, and no fining or filtration.
Bright crimson, d'Arenberg The Old Bloke & The Three Young Blondes harmonizes earthy old vine Shiraz with youthful and fragrant blonde varieties. Cellaring potential is 12 years.
